paradigm

. meaning of paradigm epistemology scientific revolution antikythera mechanism

According to The Language of Philosophy – Dictionary and Research Guide, "since the late 1960s, the word paradigm has referred to a thought pattern in any scientific discipline or other epistemological context. Initially the word was specific to grammar: the 1900 Merriam-Webster dictionary defines its technical use only in the context of grammar or, in rhetoric, as a term for an illustrative parable or fable".
.
The enlargement of the meaning of paradigm came after Thomas Kuhn, which published in 1962, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, discussing the sort of ideas that was acceptable in different historic eras that lead to cultural revolutions.
.
To illustrate a paradigm I brought the Antikythera mechanism, constructed in an era in wich we do not believed one had the hability to do so.
